WORK WITH US – Country Coordinator for Bulgaria

Job title: Country Coordinator for Bulgaria (fixed-term, consultant)

Project Duty Station: Remote

Duration of contract: August 16, 2021 – November 16, 2021 (3 month full-time / engagement)

Objectives of the assignment:

Under the direct supervision of the ERIAC management and the Campaign Manager, the Country Coordinator will support the implementation of a transnational campaign to strengthen Roma pride and identity, and to educate about the importance of active citizenship. The country coordinator will be directly responsible for ensuring the effective production of the local adaptation of the campaign in Bulgaria by:

–        maintaining close contact with local partner organisations;

–        connecting to arts and culture, academic and media experts;

–        coordinating the work of service-providers;

–        coordinating cultural events and activities (online and offline), and providing  organisational support for local production

–        promoting the campaign on social media

–        supporting the communication flow between the ERIAC campaign manager / ERIAC campaign assistant and local partners, contributors and service-providers

Specific tasks and responsibilities:

–        act as national editor for the campaign website country subpage (update country-specific content related to the campaign – materials, promos, events etc.) in line with ERIAC’s editorial policy

–        generate, edit, publish and share regular content for website and social media platforms related to the campaign, in line with ERIAC editorial policy

–        coordinate the local production and/or distribution of campaign posters and flyers based on ERIAC design templates; coordinate the strategic placement of billboards

–        coordinate the local production and/or distribution of accessories, merchandise and give-aways based on ERIAC design template

–        coordinate the local adaptation of the “Proud Roma, Free Europe” Campaign Film, a 5-min short film presenting the campaign narrative (help identify local partners, coordinate translation into local language, coordinate the production of additional inserts [30-60 sec] relevant to the country’s history and culture)

–        coordinate the translation of the “What being a Roma means to me” video, a commissioned video of short statements by famous, influential and grassroots Roma individuals from different countries; help identify local contributors

–        coordinate the local broadcasting of digital assets (video, audio, gifs) about the census and Roma identity (coordinate translation and identify local broadcasters)

–        support the planning and organisation of the national kick-off event (help coordinate online preparatory meetings/networking between ERIAC, local partner organisations, ERIAC members and grantees, REF students /alumni etc.)

–        support the planning and organisation of a national talent competition (help launch and advertise the national edition of the competition, help identify professional jury)

–        coordinate online interviews/talk-shows with Roma arts, culture, media and history personalities in local language (help identify contributors, themes and format; coordinate live-stream) (3-5 per country)

–        support the planning and organisation of at least 3 arts and culture events to be streamed online (help identify contributors, themes and format; coordinate live-stream)

–        coordinate activities based on allocated budget and ensure proper invoicing

–        coordinate activities and collaborate closely with the national team of the Roma Standing Conference

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in cultural studies, social sciences, curating, events management, PR, marketing, design, art history or related field;
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Bulgarian;
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Knowledge of Romani is an asset;
  • Applicants from Roma/Sinti/Traveller background are highly encouraged to apply.

Experiences:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in project management/ planning of cultural events;
  • Experience in (co-) running at least 1 social media campaign is an asset;
  • Knowledge of digital tools and online audience-engagement strategies is an asset;
  • Experience in community and/ or youth engagement is an asset
  • Experience with multitasking and working independently on complex administrative tasks;
  • Must be comfortable with working with multiple partners and coordinating online;
  • Must be comfortable with short deadlines and regular reporting on progress;
  • Good understanding of the Roma arts and culture scene is a strong asset;
  • Strong sense of quality in arts and culture is an asset.

The Country Coordinator for Bulgaria shall unconditionally be able to identify with the founding principles of ERIAC:

Remuneration:

  • Gross amount of 2.000 Euros paid in agreed instalments, based on a legally issued invoice.
