The census registration in Serbia will begin next week (October 1st, 2022) and morale is high among members and volunteers of Opre Roma Serbia, who have been working intensively throughout the past months to raise awareness on the importance of ethnicity declaration in the census.
Traveling to all corners of Serbia and reaching out to the most remote Roma communities, ORS volunteers have managed to meet hundreds of Roma people to inform them about the census procedure, their rights to declare their ethnicity, and the benefits deriving from accurate demographic data on the Roma population.
As part of their online campaigning and in hopes to inspire others, the Opre Roma Srbija team are sharing video messages from Roma individuals about why they will declare their ethnicity in the upcoming census and what it means for them to be a proud Roma.
